Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin failed to find a buyer in the first round of the ongoing ILT20 2026 auction. The 39-year-old cricketer from Chennai, who retired from international cricket in December 2024 and from IPL in August 2025, entered the ILT20 auction with a base price of $120,000, but he went unsold.

Apart from Ashwin, England’s James Anderson, who entered the auction with a base price of $40,000, and Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir (base price of $80,000) also went unsold.

Ashwin has played a total of 333 T20 matches so far, and in those 333 fixtures, he has accounted for the dismissal of 317 batters in addition to scoring 1233 runs.

In the IPL, Ashwin played a total of 221 matches for five teams – Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Super Giants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals – from 2009 to 2025 and picked up 187 wickets.

He played his last IPL match in Delhi on May 20, 2025, and picked up 2 wickets for 41 runs in four overs.

The member of India’s 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy winning team also played 65 T20Is for Men in Blue. As an India player, Ashwin scored 184 runs and dismissed 72 batters.
