Inside Story

Sujeewa Godaliyadda take files from SLC headquarter

In a shocking incident, Sujeewa Godaliyadda, former ExCo member in Shammi Silva led committee, was Sunday seen at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) headquarter Maitland Place taking files from his cabin.

Godaliyadda, the controversial secretary of North Central Province, arrived along with his secretary, which left board staff in utter shock. Shammi Silva led committee was removed by Sports Minister Namal Rajapakse in the first week of April, replacing with a management committee to day to day affairs till next AGM on May 20.

“He is no more at SLC, so it was shocking to see him in the office, searching for files and then disappearing” an Insider at SLC told Cricket Age.

Godaliyadda’s suspicious act raises serious question against present management committee as well, that on what basis they allowed him to enter into his cabin.

“While Professor Arjuna de Silva led management committee is not familiar with people like Godaliyadda’s cunning acts, Ashley de Silva, board CEO, should have barred him from roaming inside the office” the SLC Insider added.

Cricket Age had Yesterday published that while the country is gripped by Covid-19 third wave, Ashley has surprisingly instructed board employees to report to work even on Sunday.

Godaliyadda, a controversial figure, is considered right hand of Sumathipala (many, including even Sumathipala’s die hard supporters, believes that Sujeewa is the one who ruined former SLC president’s cricket, as well as political career).
