Suryakumar calls out fake statement on captaincy snub, says happy for Team India

Right as India’s experimental T20 transition hits a critical juncture on English soil, former captain Suryakumar Yadav has stepped in to decisively extinguish a raging off-field controversy.

A viral statement circulating across social media platforms had claimed that Suryakumar felt disrespected and was completely left in the dark by the national selectors and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding his sudden omission from the UK tour and the subsequent passing of the captaincy baton to Shreyas Iyer.

Breaking his silence ahead of India’s crucial, must-win third T20I at Trent Bridge, Suryakumar issued a comprehensive, dignity-laden clarification. The 35-year-old debunked the malicious rumours, expressing his total commitment to the ongoing generational shift while extending a special arm of support to teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

“I’m very happy for the team and wish them nothing but the very best, always,” Suryakumar said.

“I know the boys are giving it their all, and they will always have my full support.”

Addressing the viral controversy directly, the veteran batsman warned fans and media outlets against falling prey to digital fabrication.

“I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorised any such statement. Please don’t believe or share unverified information,” Yadav clarified.
