The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a second straight season, with the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirming on Monday (December 15) that the league’s 11th edition will be held from March 26 to May 3 next year.
The IPL traditionally begins in the final week of March and runs through to the end of May.
Naqvi, who’s also the interior minister of the country, made the announcement on Sunday during a roadshow in New York.
Naqvi said the PCB is prepared to adjust the national team’s schedule to accommodate the league. This includes revisiting a planned tour of Bangladesh in March-April, where Pakistan is slated to play two Tests as part of the World Test Championship, along with three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.
The PSL was also staged in the same March-May window last season, largely because Pakistan (alongside the UAE) was hosting the Champions Trophy, which forced a change from the league’s usual slot. For the first nine editions, the PSL was played earlier in the year, typically in February and March.
That traditional window will be occupied next year by the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March. Since its launch in 2016, the PSL has been hosted in the UAE and Pakistan.
Naqvi also confirmed that the auction for the league’s two new teams will take place on January 8.
