International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah was present at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday (December 15) during Lionel Messi’s GOAT Tour. He met the football superstar at the iconic stadium in Delhi and invited him for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and the USA.
He gave the match ticket to Messi and also a customised jersey of the Indian cricket team to him and Luis Suárez and Rodrigo de Paul.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and the USA is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 7. India will then face Namibia in their second Group A match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 12, Pakistan at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on February 15 and the Netherlands at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 18.
The Lionel Messi G.O.A.T. India Tour that began in shambolic fashion ended in a blaze of glory as devotional fans joyously gathered to catch a glimpse of a man that does things on the field that are often beyond human comprehension.
Most importantly, the much-publicised and anticipated event had the ending it wanted, after a chaotic beginning in Kolkata on the tour’s first stop on Saturday.
The thousands of heads totting the stands at Kotla, as well as the few Indian celebrities and dignitaries inside the ground, basked in the euphoria of hosting one of the world’s most recognisable and bankable athletes at an extravagant event.
