In a disgusting turn of events, Sri Lanka’s Galle District Cricket Association (GDCA) has “unconstitutionally” sacked it’s Vice President Charles Silva, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Silva, President of Galle Cricket Club, was acting as GDCA vice president since last two years.
According to sources, Silva, who is overseas at the moment, was informed about his removal from the position without any prior notice, explanation or communication!
Cricket Age understands that GDCA committee member Lal Ranasinghe is the main culprit, who, with it’s president Kumara Halabagey’s consent, conspired against Charles Silva.
“Two years ago, Mr. Charles was elected as GDCA vice president through an AGM. Now, they says his appointment is invalid. This is an absolute joke and dictatorship at highest level. In this scenario, all the GDCA’s decisions in last two years, in which Mr. Charles was also involved, also must be taken back” a source at GDCA told Cricket Age.
According to sources, Charles Silva, who enjoys unconditional backing of majority of GDCA members, has already decided to go to court against GDCA’s unconstitutional sacking.
