Virat Kohli is dangerous once he is set, says Mohammad Rizwan

Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Haris Rauf have expressed their admiration for Virat Kohli ahead of India’s match vs Pakistan in the ODI World Cup. Speaking via the official broadcaster, the Pakistan duo have said that there are certain characteristics of Virat Kohli that set him apart from the rest.

Speaking to Star Sports, Rizwan said that there is no one in the world who is better in the finishing stages of the game than Virat Kohli.

“Once he is set and he has some runs in the bag with him, his end product is very dangerous. The shots that he plays at the latter half of the innings, the finishing touches, no one can match that. These are the things that set him apart,” Rizwan told the broadcaster ahead of the match.

Rizwan watched a Kohli masterclass unfold in front of his eyes, when the senior India batter smashed a tremendous half century in the 2022 World Cup in Melbourne. Kohli had struggled initially in the match but managed to pull off a miracle chase in the final overs of the game. Kohli famously hit a brilliant six off Haris Rauf in the match as well.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf joined the conversation and lauded Virat Kohli for his focus. He looked back upon his early days when he was a net bowler in the India camp and said that Kohli’s focus was unmatched.

“When I was a net bowler for India, I was bowling to Virat Kohli and it felt like he knew what the exact part of the bat was hitting the ball and where it was going, he was so focused. I have never seen that much control in anyone. That is why he is so good,” said Haris Rauf ahead of the India-Pakistan match.
