India’s all-round performance has been very good, says Sunil Gavaskar

India will start as favourites against Pakistan in the 14 October clash, feels Sunil Gavaskar. Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam’s teams will take the field at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Pakistan have never beaten India in the big stage and would hope to stop that run.

Former India batter Sunil Gavaskar while speaking to India Today, however, felt that it might be easier said that done from the Pakistan point of viee. Gavaskar said that India have been tremendous with both bat and ball in the recent past and that should be enough to give them the advantage in the clash.

“India’s all round performance has been very, very good and that gives you hope that against Pakistan,” Gavaskar said on India Today.

The former batter criticised Babar Azam for his recent outings and said that he will be under pressure in this game.

“Pakistan, also the skipper, hasn’t got runs which will always put pressure, particularly when you’re going to play against India. He’ll be conscious of the fact that he hasn’t spent time out in the middle,” Gavaskar said.

“I do believe that, uh, India start as the favorites,” the legendary batter concluded.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has had two poor outings in the World Cup. Playing at the flat decks of Hyderabad, Babar scored 5 and 10 against Netherlands and Sri Lanka respectively.

Speaking about Pakistan record against India in the ODI World Cup 2023, Babar Azam said that records were meant to be broken. Babar’s Pakistan have played 6 matches against India since the 2021 T20 World Cup. India lead the tally with 3 games to 2 in the 6 matches. One of the Asia Cup 2023 matches was washed out by rain.
