Injury Issues, Sports Minister delay keeps Sri Lanka World Cup squad in suspense!

Even though Sri Lanka World Cup bound team is scheduled to depart tomorrow, the squad has still not been announced, mainly due to two reasons: Injury Issues and this time an unintentional delay by Country’s Sports Minister in approving it!

The Dasun Shanaka led team is scheduled to depart tomorrow late night.

Cricket Age understands that the squad was approved only few hours ago, as Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe returned Sri Lanka just today.

In addition, Injury concern of star players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera has also forced Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to wait till eleventh hour!

“Selectors wanted to know what’s the final squad with injury issues. We have recieved Ministry approval and now it will be announced soon” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.

The 13h edition of the ICC tournament to be held in India from October 5 to November 19. Sri Lanka to play it’s first match on October 7 at Arun Jaitly Stadium, Delhi.
