Emerging Asia Cup: Ravin sweats, Jerome sits

Written by N Krishnamurthy

While Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) domestic vice president Ravin Wickramaratne is working extremely hard to make ongoing Emerging Asia Cup a success as Tournament Director, COO and Co tournament director Jerome Jayaratne has shown no interest in contributing, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The 8 nation tournament is currently underway at two venues: RPICS and P Sara Oval.

According to sources, Ravin has overseen everything, along with SLC staff. However, Co tournament director Jerome, an official with highest number of salary increments in Sri Lanka Cricket history, has stayed away from the Emerging Asia Cup!

“He remained Inactive. Forgot about overseeing preparation and arrangements, he doesn’t bother to come to ground to watch matches even. He arrives around 1 PM at Maitland Place office and sits all day in his cabin” a source told Cricket Age.

Accusations are that Jerome’s only interest is in collecting per diem and tournament fee. According to sources, he doesn’t know even what’s his responsibility as Co tournament director!

The final will be played on July 23.
