Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that Cameron Green should continue batting at No.3 for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. On Sunday, Green scored his maiden IPL hundred as the five-time champions defeated Aiden Makram’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Green stayed not out on 100 runs off 47 balls with eight fours and as many sixes as MI chased down 201 with as many as 18 deliveries left in their innings.

“MI invested big money in Cameron Green  (at the TATA IPL Auction) and the big-hitter didn’t disappoint. He’s a potential match-winner for MI. He should be batting at number three for MI in the coming games because pitches in Chennai and Ahmedabad will not be easy to bat like Wankhede,” Pathan was quoted as saying on Star Sports’ Cricket Live.

“Green can come in at number three and SKY can be the number four batter on slow pitches,” he added. In IPL 2023, Green scored 381 runs at an average of 54.42 and a strike-rate of 159.41 with one century and two half-centuries to show for his efforts.

MI will lock horns with Krunal Pandya’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator on Wednesday, May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
