India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has gone under a successful surgery by Dr Dinshaw Pardilwala and his team on 6 January afternoon, sources told IndiaToday. Pant is set to be kept under observation for 3 to 4 days at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.

The batter had been flown out of Dehradun after his initial treatment for a ligament injury on his knee. It has been learnt by IndiaToday that the player has been responding well to his treatment.

Pant was caught in a road accident on 30 December while driving from Delhi to Roorkee. Pant’s car rammed into the divider and toppled to the other side of the road. The batter was rescued by locals and dragged out from his Mercedes car while it got engulfed in flames. Photos suggested that Pant was seriously hurt and was later confirmed by the BCCI medical team. After staying in Dehradun’s Max Hospital, Pant was shifted to Mumbai for additional treatment as the board mulled shifting him overseas.

Pant met his rescuers in the hospital premises overseas before leaving for Mumbai in the presence of his mother.
