Washington Sundar will replace an injured Deepak Chahar in India’s ODI squad for the 2nd and 3rd matches of the ongoing series against South Africa at home. The BCCI confirmed on Saturday that Chahar has been ruled out with a stiff back and will take no further part in the ODI series.

Deepak Chahar will head to the National Cricket Academy where his fitness will be monitored in the lead-up to the World Cup. Deepak was named as one of the three reserves for India’s T20 World Cup squad but it has to be seen if the pacer would be able to make the trip to Australia.

On the other hand, Washington Sundar returns to the ODI squad for the first time since he was named for Zimbabwe ODIs. However, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder had not travelled to Zimbabwe in August after he picked up a shoulder injury while playing in the Royal London One-Day Cup in the UK.
