Chandima Mapatuna appointed Sri Lanka’s Interim team manager for Zimbabwe series

Head of International Cricket Chandima Mapatuna has been named as the Interim manager of the Sri Lanka team for the upcoming ODI home series against Zimbabwe, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Sri Lanka have also been without a head coach for the series since Mickey Arthur’s contract ended on December 4. Former fast bowler Rumesh Ratnayake will be assisted by former first-class batter Ruwin Peiris, who will be with the team as interim batting coach.

On January 4, Cricket Age had published that in a long overdue move, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has finally relieved controversial national team manager Manuja Kariyapperuma from his added assignment. Accordingly, he has been asked to return to his original position as coordinator at Women’s Cricket.

Zimbabwe’s tour of Sri Lanka runs from January 16 to January 21.  Sri Lanka’s next major assignments are the T20I tour of Australia, in mid-February, closely followed by a two-Test tour of India. The board is expected to have named a permanent team manager by then.
