Young Team India batsman Shubman Gill has said that batting with his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate Andre Russell is like watching a match highlight from the non-strikers end.

The Punjab batsman was having a Question and Answer session on Twitter when his IPL franchise KKR came up with a question asking him about his batting experience with hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell.

In an other question a fan asked him to choose a retired batsman he would have loved to bat with. Gill, who made his India debut in January 2019, took no time in answering that and said, “The one and only, Sachin Tendulkar.”

Gill, 20, also revealed that Ricky Ponting is that foreign cricketer whom he admires a lot.

Shubman Gill was picked up by KKR in 2018 and since then the flamboyant batsman has aggregated 499 runs at an average of 33.27 and strike rate of 132.26 for the Shah Rukh Khan owned-franchise.

Gill’s stature at the franchise has grown so much so that former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir think he should succeed as the captain of team after Gautam Gambhir.

Shubman Gill named his Under-19 World Cup teammates Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti as his ‘best friends’ at KKR.

When asked about his view on captain Dinesh Karthik and owner Shah Rukh Khan, Gill said, “DK (Dinesh Karthik) is a really good leader. SRK always supports us no matter if we win or lose. He doesn’t talk much about the match.”

Shubman Gill also talked about an incident when he was pranked by Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Krunal Pandya. The batsman said, “I went to have sushi for the first time with Pant, Kishan and Krunal. They convinced me that wasabi was a great dessert and I believed them.”
