SLC to advertise all expired contracts after Sports Minister directive

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has given its consent to advertise all the expired contracts, as per the directive issued by country’s Sports Minister Harin Fernando, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The decision was taken during the SLC emergency Executive committee meeting yesterday night (August 22).

Harin Fernando had Asked SLC on August 20 to openly advertise all expired contracts, followed by an evaluation process prior to renewal.

“Please be informed that all existing contracts within SLC that has been expired as of now, should be openly advertised and followed by an evaluation process prior to renewal” Harin Fernando’s letter, addressed to SLC President Shammi Silva, reads.

Right after the World Cup, Sri Lanka Cricket has been going through a controversial phase over removing, hiring and extending the contracts of few of the non performing individuals, including national team head coach Chandika Hathurasingha and SLC Chief Cricket operations officer Asanka Gurusinha.

As both former players have turned epic failure in their respective responsibilities, the top SLC officials have rightly decided to parted ways with both of them. However, former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala was strongly backing both Hathurusingha and Gurusinha and was trying various tricks to fulfill his sinister plot.

However, now as Harin Fernando has put a full stop on Sumathipala cricket ambitions also by signing a gazette on Thursday that stops officials to hold any post whom family directly or indirectly involves in betting and gambling, SLC has opted right procedure to advertise all expired contracts.
