Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Nephew Arrested In Australia For ISIS Connection

Nilar Nizamdeen Mohamed Kamer, A PhD student working at the University of NSW has been arrested by police after a notebook allegedly containing terrorist ideology inspired by Islamic State was found on the eastern suburbs campus.

Police on Friday said a colleague of 25-year-old Sri Lankan national found the notebook filled with locations and individuals that would be the subject of an alleged terrorist plot.

Nilar Nizamdeen Mohamed Kamer is grandson of former Bank of Ceylon Chairman late attorney at law Jehan Kamer Cassim and is nephew of Minister of Sports and Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha. His appeal for the bail is rejected and the hearing set to October 24th.
