In the wake of match fixing allegations in one of the the Galle test that shocked Cricket few months ago, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has removed Godfrey Dabrera from his post of incharge of international venues, Cricket Age reliably learns.
In May this year, Al Jazeera aired a documentary, showing Sri Lanka’s domestic former players attempts to fix the match at Galle.

“The International Cricket Council (ICC) has had some reservations about Godfrey. Top ICC officials spoke to him over certain things and after that competent authority Mr. Kamal Padmasiri took the decision to remove him from his post” a top SLC Official told Cricket Age.

Godfrey, the president of Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, is considered as one of the closest associate of former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala. in August 2017, Sri Lanka’s most iconic shorter formats fast bowler Lasith Malinga raised some serious questions against Godfrey and accused him for preparing pitches more suited to visiting team India. After making those revelations, Malinga has not played for Sri Lanka again.
Godfrey’s removal is a big setback for Sumathipala. After being discarded from the SLC in May, Sumathipala has weakened significantly. Former SLC Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga has dragged him into Court and there are serious question mark over his return to the Maitland place.
