Chandima Mapatuna Appointed Sri Lanka Team Manager

Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has appointed Chandima Mapatuna as the Manager of the national team for the Series against South Africa, Cricket Age reliably learns.

South Africa to play Two tests, Five ODIs and one-off T20I during the tour. The first test to kick off from July 12 at Galle.

Mapatuna, carries an ECB Coaching Certificate, joined SLC through Sri Lanka’s Legendary former Captain Arjuna Ranatunga during his time as President. Now, a loyal of former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala, he is shouldering the responsibility of Manager In charge of International Cricket.

Mapatuna appointment came after Asanka Gurusinha vacated the post following the West Indies Tour, where he found guilty of delaying the match for two hours, along with Sri Lanka test captain and Coach Chandika Hathurusingha. Today, The International Cricket Council (ICC) to announce its verdict against them.

Last Week, SLC controversial CEO Ashley De Silva and COO Jerome Jayarathne tried to appoint Chief Selector Graeme Labrooy as the team manager. However, after the news leaked in the media and question raised about his multitasking and incompetence, SLC decided to appoint Mapatuna.
