Written by Pushpendra Albe

Hashan Tillakaratne, former Sri Lanka player and recently appointed head coach of U19 Team has become guilty of Contempt of the court, after he went behind Cricket Board former President Thilanga Sumathipala for the team selection and getting the approval of the funds for the Series against India U19.

After Sumathipala Led administration’s departure on May 31st after their failing to conduct election on time, Sport Minister appointee Competent Authority Kamal Padmasiri has been overseeing SLC.

However, last week, Hashan went behind Sumathipala to get the approval of the funds for the U19 Team upcoming home Series against India. During the meeting, Hashan also asked Sumathipala to look after the selection of the 25 Probable players for the Series.

Not only this, after that, Sri Lanka Chief selector Graeme Labrooy got a call from the Sumathipala regarding the selection, and only after that there was a selection meeting at SLC next day morning.

“As he is an employee at SLC and Honorable Court Of Appeal has ousted Sumathipala, So Mr. Hashan Tillakaratne is guilty for disobeying judiciary is he went behind former President for cricket related matters” A Top Most lawyer of Sri Lanka told Cricket Age.

It is noteworthy, that Sumathipala Led administration mysteriously appointed Hashan as the U19 Coach during last few hours of their stay at SLC. His wife Apsari Tillakaratne also got one year extension mysteriously, even though her previous record as Convener of Women’s team is nothing less than a disaster.

“Maybe Mr. Hashan Tillakaratne went behind Mr Sumathipala for his own benefits, but it is a clear case of Contempt Of Court. As Honorable Sports Minister is himself a counselor of country’s  President, he must take stern action against Mr. Hashan Tillakaratne” He further added in the disgusting act of Hashan Tillakaratne.
