Written by Vipin Darwade

It was not one of those days to celebrate for sports fans in Australia as their team faced defeats in as many as three different blockbuster matches. The Aussies were humbled by France in the Group C opener at the FIFA World Cup and were then defeated by Ireland in a rugby Test match before facing a bitter defeat at the hands of fiercest rivals England in a cracker of an ODI game.

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan couldn’t stop himself from taking a brutal dig at the Australian fans who saw three of their national teams lost in three different sports on a single day.

Vaughan in a tweet ripped apart Australia wrote,

“MORNING Australia …. When was the last time 3 of your National teams all lost on the same day?? #OnOn.”

In Cricket, Batting first, England riding on Jason Roy’s 108-ball 120 and Jos Buttler’s 70-ball 91 posted a staggering 342/8 in 50 overs. In response, Australia were bundled out on 304 in 47.1 overs as they fell short by 39 runs.
