Danushka Gunathilika Put As Standby For Dimuth Karunaratne

Sri Lanka selectors have named Danushka Gunathilika as the standby for injured Dimuth Karunaratne for the test series against West Indies, Cricket Age learns.

Dimuth, the best test batsman for Sri Lanka in last one year, sustained a finger injury during the net session. Widely considered as a shorter formats specialist, Gunathilika has so far played two tests for Sri Lanka and lately has shown the signs to develop as a longer format player as well.

Fast bowlers Shehan Madushanka, Kasun Rajitha, Asitha Fernando and Nisala Tharaka has also been included in the squad.

22-Member Preliminary squad for West Indian tour has started training in Kandy in high performance center from Wednesday. The Squad will be reduce to 15 before departure for the three Test tour on May 25.

Sri Lanka to play three test against West Indies. The tour will kick off on May 30 with a tour match at Tarouba, while the first test to be played at Port Of Spain From June 6.
