Dinesh Chandimal’s Younger Brother gets Nationwide Attention After ‘Big Match’ Hundred

Kamesh Nirmal, the younger brother of Sri Lanka test captain Dinesh Chandimal, has received nationwide acclaim after a sensational hundred during the 89th Battle of the Maroons encounter between Nalanda and Ananda college.

The traditional match was played at Historical Sinhalese Sports Club on 3rd and 4th March.

Nirmal, A 17 year old batting prodigy, saved Ananda college in the 2nd innings with an unbeaten hundred in just 138 balls. Riding on his magnificent hundred, Despite missing out in the 1st innings, Ananda college retained the Dr. N. M. Perera Memorial Challenge Trophy this year.

Cricket fans were more fascinated with Nirmal’s batting similarities with his elder brother Dinesh Chandimal. Like Elder brother, he also bats right handed and his batting style and even stance is the same as Dinesh Chandimal.

Coincidentally, nine years ago, Dinesh Chandimal scored a hundred in 80th BOM in 2009, and now his younger brother Nirmal replicated the same feat!
