Written by Rohit Pawar

Simon Willis has tendered his resignation from his post of high performance manager of the Sri Lanka, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Willis had been appointed by the SLC in May 2017. He was given the responsibility to oversee SLC’s cricket Academy based in Khettarama as well as to identify talent and developing cricketers within the Sri Lanka system.

However, Willis association with the SLC has been ranked amongst the worst tie-up in the Sri Lanka Cricket history, largely due to the politics within the board.

There were reports that during his time with County Team Kent, he became very close to one of the prominent Sri Lanka player, who brought him as high performance manager.

Under Willis guidance, Kent prospered big time. He also holds a number of coaching qualifications including the ECB’s level 4 certificate.

However, SLC could not utilize him, largely due to the internal politics, even though he kept paid handsomely on monthly basis.
