Is Ravin Wickramratne Main Culprit of Panadura-Kalutara Fiasco?

The notorious Panadura-Kalutara fiasco, that destroyed the creditability of Sri Lanka cricket forever, has taken a new turn as it has been revelead through the RTI that the controversial Assistant Secretary of SLC Ravin Wickramratne is the main Culprit.

The Sunday Times, one of the most popular news paper in Sri Lanka, has obtained a copy of the report under the RTI, submitted by Palitha Kumarasinghe PC, that reveals that the Manager/Secretary of Kalutara PCC, Manager of Panadura CC and the Secretary of the Panadura SC were accused respondents and were found guilty of by the disciplinary panel.

The report also reads that Ravin Wickramratne has manipulated things using his influence along with a member of Umpire’s commitee Kapila Jayanath.

The Panadura-Kalutara fiasco has rocked Sri Lanka cricket with match fixing allegations. Having resumed the final day on 180 for 2, Panadura added further 223 runs in 22.3 overs at a run rate of 10.34 in their first innings. Kalutara were bowled out for 197 in 22.5 overs in the second innings, before Panadura hit 167 for 7 in 13.4 overs to win the game.

Both the captains were suspended with other players after the inquiry, even though they didn’t get the chance to even defend themselves. Sri Lanka veteran Chamara Silva was The most high profile player, who suffered from this injustice.
