Sri Lanka Playing XI for the First T20I

Written by Rohit Pawar

Sri Lanka looked to threaten India during the test and ODI series, though in patches. However, T20 is the format, where they have excelled in otherwise woeful 2017, having whitewashed Australia and South Africa.

Fortunately, they have a almost full strength squad, to choose playing XI. Kusal Perera couldn’t find a place in the ODI series, but he is a certain starter in this format. However, five potential openers in the squad, means another selection dilemma awaits for the team management. With Big hitters like Asela Gunaratne, Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera in middle order, Sri Lanka is expected to put a brave fight against a Virat Kohli less Team India.

Probable XI

Kusal Perera
Niroshan Dickwella (WK)
Danushka Gunathilika
Upul Tharanga
Angelo Mathews
Asela Gunaratne
Dasun Shanaka
Thisara Perera (Capt.)
Akila Dananjaya
Nuwan Pradeep
Dushmantha Chameera
