One of the most successful bowler in T20 Cricket history, Lasith Malinga has been dropped from the T20 squad for the three match series against India, Cricket Age learns.

Malinga last played for Sri Lanka in a one off T20I during the India series in September. He didn’t go to Lahore for the T20 series following this due to security reasons.

He played for Rangpur Riders in the BPL, though, returned midway to get prepare for the India Series. He was also in the preliminary squad of 20 players, However, it seems, that selectors have completely decided to move on.

This well could be the end of Malinga’s international career, as selectors have already made it clear during the India series that he is not in their scheme of things for the 2019 world cup. After a one and half year hiatus from the international Cricket due to injuries, he made his return in the earlier this year, during the t20 series against Australia. However, his bowling form declined considerably, and his fitness and tussle with sports minister didn’t help his case either.

Sri Lanka to play three T20Is against India. The first match will be played at Cuttack on December 20.
