SLC announces Thilan Samaraweera Appointment for Three Years

SLC has announced today the recruitment of former Sri Lanka right hand batsman Thilan Samaraweera as Batting coach to the National Team for a period of 3 years. Samaraweera known for his patient and relentless batting style was most recently batting consultant with the Bangladesh team.

Samaraweera ended his career in March 2013, retiring from International Cricket with career averages of 48.76 with a highest score of 231 in 81 Test matches and 27.80 with a highest score of 105* in 53 ODI games.

His first assignment will be Sri Lanka forthcoming tour of India, where his team will play three tests, three ODIs and three T20s in 37 days long tour.

During Sri Lanka’s home series against India, the hosts lost all nine games – three Tests, five one-day internationals and a lone Twenty20 – between July and September.

After playing the first Test in Kolkata from November 16-20, the teams move to Nagpur for the second, which starts on November 24. The final Test will be played in Delhi between December 2-6.
