“Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh setting bad example by bunking domestic cricket”

Written by Vipin Darwade

Over the years, with the advent of IPL Indian cricket once most important domestic condition Ranji Trophy has been in decline! In the nineties and early part of the 21st century, Selectors used to pick players for the national team mainly on the basis of their performance in Ranji Trophy. Now, they picks a player for the rest team, by seeing his performance in IPL. obviously, players too have started ignoring the Ranji Trophy!

This year, the trend is same! While Ranji Trophy has returned to its original home-away format, some international players like Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh ditching first-class cricket.

The former left-arm spinner Bisen Singh Bedi is not happy with this at all. He thinks if players like Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh want to revive their international career then they need to perform for Punjab in the ongoing Ranji Trophy and skipping first-class cricket will be a bad omen for the future.

“First-class cricket is very important and honestly I don’t like players who bunk it. I have very little time for them. Players missing first-class cricket is a bad omen for Indian cricket. When your international players start bunking domestic cricket is a bad omen for the future” he said.
