No selectors! Chandimal-Sumathipala selected the squad for UAE tests

Sri Lanka cricket board has been finding it rather difficult to appoint next selection committee, even as the team’s tour of UAE for the series against Pakistan is looming over, with first test will be played at Abu Dhabi from 28th September.

The situation is getting worse! As much as that, yesterday President Sumathipala and test captain Dinesh Chandimal sat down and finalised a 15 members test squad, in the absence of selectors.

Sumathipala, who just returned yesterday from abroad, called Chandimal hurriedly, and himself selected the squad, with the very little inputs of the captain.

It is noteworthy, that Sanath Jayasuriya led selection committee left the office on 6th September, officially. Since then, SLC is trying hard to bring new selectors on the board. The board has approached almost every former player, But no one is willing to take the responsibility, thanks to Sumathipala.

None of the past National Selectors want to be a part of Sri Lanka Cricket, until Sumathipala and his full Executive Committee is changed and a new administration is in place. As a result, now SLC is hoping to get past women national team and Provincial team selectors to be appointed in order to rubber stamp the 15 member squad for the Pakistan series, which has been selected by Thilanga and Chandimal yesterday.
