Sarathchandra resigns, as Sumathipala slams him over security lapses

Sri Lanka cricket board is fast sinking, as resignation becomes a norm amongst administrators. Just after few hours of Sanath Jayasuriya led selection committee tenderd their resignation, Sarathchandra, the security manager of SLC Also resigned, Cricket Age has reliably learnt.

Sarathchamdra, a senior DIG STF officer, is a respected name in Sri Lanka cricket.

Sources revealed that he was blasted by Sumathipala for not brining the Kandy crowd under control. The scenario at Pallekele was so much tense, that This will be reported by the match referee Andy Pycropt to ICC.

Also Pycropt has intimated to Ashley de silva that SL security plan was not good enough and no steps were taken to bring it under control and such incident again will be sternly looked into by ICC.

That made Sumathipala angry, as he slammed and accused Sarathchandra for these lapses.

As India was eight runs away from a win in the third match at Pallekele, some late drama off-the field led to a stoppage of play for nearly half an hour. Bottles were thrown on the field by angry Sri Lankan fans, who were seemingly incensed seeing yet another lackluster performance by the home team.

Security forces were called to evict spectators from some of the sections in the gallery before the match resumed. The scenes were reminiscent of 1996 World Cup semifinals at the Eden Gardens where India had to forfeit the match against Sri Lanka following crowd trouble.
