Munaveera to open for Sri Lanka in tomorrow’s match

Written by Rohit Pawar

Recalled batsman Dilshan Munaveera will open the innings for Sri Lanka along with Niroshan Dickwela in the fourth match against India at R. Premdasa, tomorrow.

Munaveera was not part of the original squad for the ODI series, but selectors have added him as a replacement for Dinesh Chandimal, who suffered hairline fracture in his thumb, during the third match.

A dashing right-handed opening batsman, Munaveera has played only t20s for his country. He was the part of 2012 t20 world cup squad, but was dropped after a string of modest scores.

Apart from being a hard hitting opener, Munaveera is also a useful part time off spinner and a reliable fielder.
He made his comeback in the national team during the t20 series in Australia earlier this year and played some sparkling knocks.
