Breaking! Sumathipala lost defamatory case against Ranatunga

Thilanga Sumathipala, the president of Sri Lanka cricket board, has lost the defamatory case against former captain Arjuna Ranatunga.

The Nugegoda District Court gave the Verdit today in favour of Ranatunga, in the case numberCase No 445/M/2008.

According to Sumathipala, Ranatunga had made objectionable remarks, by saying that “Sumathipala is a corrupt individual, unsuited to work towards the betterment of the game” in a media brief at his residence in 2003.

Sumathipala had filed a case, seeking 500 million RS. for these remarks.It is a big setback for the Sumathipala, who has been facing nationwide flake for the dismal show of Sri Lanka team.

Ranatunga, an arch rival and critics of Sumathipala, has been on a mission to ouster Sumathipala from the SLC.
