Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Could Be Picked For Ireland Tour

Written by Rohit Pawar

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is still just 15 but the boy wonder has already started banging on the doors of the Indian national cricket team. He has been ripping apart experienced bowlers for fun in the ongoing IPL and the Indian men’s selection committee has taken note with a report claiming the teenager has been shortlisted among those who could be picked for India’s Ireland tour set to take place in June this year.

Sooryavanshi, who represents Bihar in domestic circuit, is setting IPL 2026 ablaze with his fearless batting and has racked up 200 runs in five innings at a stunning strike-rate of 263.16. Representing Rajasthan Royals, he has so far struck two blistering half-centuries and during a much-awaited showdown with Jasprit Bumrah, greeted the Mumbai Indians’ pace spearhead with a first-ball six.

“He is in contention for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with those of many other players,” a source was quoted as claiming.

A second-string Indian T20I team could be picked for the two-match T20I series in Ireland.

Sooryavanshi made his IPL debut last year and made quite an entrance swatting away the first ball of his league career for a six. Later, he went on to score a 35-ball century – the quickest ever by an Indian in the tournament’s history.

Recently, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had expressed his admiration for the top-order batter who idolises Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh.
