Babar Azam loses cool at journalist over Virat Kohli comparison: Let’s end this here

Babar Azam played a decisive knock in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against Hyderabad Kingsmen at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday. He led Peshawar Zalmi from the front and scored 43 off 37 balls as they chased down a modest 146-run target in the final ball of the match.

Although Peshawar won the match by four wickets, Babar met with an uncomfortable question during the press conference that followed.

Drawing parallel between him and talismanic batter Virat Kohli, Babar was asked why he is unable to finish matches as compared to the Indian.

Even before the reporter could complete the question, Babar interrupted and said “lets end it here.” He then presented a lengthy explanation, citing condition and playing as per the situation.

However, right before he concluded he took a shot at the reporter saying: “It’s your misconception that I have not finished matches. I’ve actually finished many.”

Babar is regarded as the premier batter from Pakistan. However, his gameplay, particularly in T20s, has led to immense criticism, with questions raised about his strike-rate and intent.

He has played two matches this season and has mustered 82 runs at a strike-rate of 126.15. In those two matches, Babar has hit 10 fours and just one six.

Kohli, on the other hand, has stepped away from Test and T20Is but continues to ply his trade for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL.
