Rohit Sharma To Play 2 Vijay Hazare Trophy Matches For Mumbai

Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who is also the world’s No. 1 ODI batter, will play two matches for Mumbai in the 2025-26 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. As per a report in news agency PTI, the 38-year-old right-handed batter will take the field for the Mumbai-based team on Wednesday (December 24) in Jaipur against Sikkim. After the match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Rohit will also feature in Mumbai’s second Elite Group C match against Uttarakhand at the same venue on Friday (December 26).

“Rohit has made it clear that he will play the first two matches of Mumbai against Sikkim and Uttarakhand in Jaipur on December 24 and 26,” PTI reported on Tuesday.

Rohit, who last played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai in 2018, will feature as a specialist batter in this year’s tournament. Out-of-favour India all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been appointed as Mumbai’s captain, and the Mumbai squad also includes the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Sarfaraz Khan, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Musheer Khan and Tushar Deshpande among others.

As per reports, Yashasvi Jaiswal will be available for selection post December 29, and India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and star all-rounder Shivam Dube will play in the last two group matches.
