Cricket Australia has sent a delegation to Lahore before the Pakistan tour to review the security arrangements. It includes an independent security consultant and an official from Cricket Australia. The delegation will visit Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and the hotel where the Australian team will stay. They will also meet with PCB officials and government and security representatives.
The Australian team will tour Pakistan early next year. The team will play a limited-overs series there in 2 phases. The first phase will consist of a three-match T20 series in January. However, PCB has not released the schedule for the series.
Sri Lankan players refused to play in Pakistan after the Islamabad bomb blast
On 11th November, a suicide attack occurred outside a court in Islamabad. After this attack, more than half of the Sri Lankan team’s players refused to play the ODI match on November 13. Later, the match was played after Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Asim Munir took responsibility for security.
Australia will again tour Pakistan next March for a three-match ODI series. It is being speculated that the ODI series may be postponed for now and could be held sometime before the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Three years ago, on 21 September 2021, New Zealand had cancelled the limited-overs series against Pakistan. The team returned home without playing any match after receiving intelligence about a potential terrorist attack.
