In a major development, it has emerged that the Indian cricket team has decided not to share the presentation dais with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi should they make the Asia Cup final and win the tournament. The title clash of the continental event is slated to be held on September 28.
Being ACC president, Naqvi is expected to hand over the winner’s trophy, but the Indian team is unlikely to accept the silverware should this be the case.
“…it is reliably learnt that if India make the tournament’s final on September 28, the players won’t be sharing the presentation dais with Naqvi, who is expected to hand over the winner’s trophy as ACC head,” a source stated.
Naqvi is also the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Meanwhile, PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC over the actions of match referee Andy Pycroft for allegedly telling the two captains not to shake hands during the toss for their Asia Cup Group A match on Sunday.
