KL Rahul will outscore Shubman Gill in coming matches: Owais Shah

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Former England cricketer Owais Shah has backed KL Rahul to outscore Shubman Gill in the coming matches. Both KL and Shubman have been in sensational form in the ongoing series against England, having plundered runs across three Test matches. Gill is leading the charts in the run scorer’s list, having accumulated 607 runs from three matches so far.

On the other hand, Rahul has also been in marvellous form, having scored two centuries in the series so far. Recently, Owais Shah praised both Gill and Rahul for their tremendous form. While Shah mentioned that he didn’t expect Gill to be as prolific as he’s been, he lauded Rahul for flourishing in the absence of Virat Kohli.

“I think he’s been in the shadow of Kohli. With Kohli at the crease, he was always going to be your main batsman and Rahul was under the radar. But this is his time to flourish. This is the first series without Virat Kohli. Look at the batting order, yes Shubman Gill has done really well, I wasn’t expecting it. I did not think he had it in him to do what he’s done so far,” Shah remarked on the Beard Before Wicket podcast.

Furthermore, he hailed Rahul as the best batter in the Indian line-up and said it’s about time he start delivering consistently at the international level.

“But I still feel KL Rahul is the best batsman in the batting line-up who you should be able to rely on. And it is time for him to deliver the sort of numbers his technique and temperament promise. I feel KL, over 10-15 matches, may just outscore Shubman Gill. I think we will see him really come about in the next 12 months,” Shah added.
