Jasprit Bumrah picks 12th five-wicket haul overseas, equals Kapil Dev’s record

Jasprit Bumrah continued his record-breaking spree, taking a five-wicket haul in the Test series opener against England at Headingley in Leeds. Bumrah came up with a lone warrior’s effort for India on Day 3, finishing with figures of 5 for 83 in 24.4 overs. Bumrah was crucial to India sealing a six-run lead as England were bowled out for 465. Despite lacking support, Bumrah was at his best, causing headaches to the England batting unit in the first of the five-match series.

Bumrah, during the course of the Leeds Test match, also went past Wasim Akram for the most wickets by an Asian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). Bumrah took his tally to 150 wickets, four more than Wasim Akram’s tally.
