India not No. 1 in Tests? ICC correct rankings after glitch, Australia still at top

In an interesting turn of events on Wednesday, Australia have been restored to the No.1 slot in the ICC Test Rankings after it was said that India had gotten the top spot.

It was revealed on Wednesday that the Indian team, after their big win in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy, had gone up to first spot in the ICC Test rankings. India had defeated the Aussies by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur to go 1-0 in the series and edge closer to booking their place in the World Test Championship final at the Oval.

This meant that India became No.1 in all formats of the game according to the ICC rankings, which was seen as a big moment for the team. India had moved to the top of the ICC ODI Rankings after their series win against New Zealand, which they won by a margin of 3-0.

However, the joy of being No.1 in all formats of the game was now short-lived as ICC have corrected the error which seemed like a technical glitch. Australia have now returned to the top spot with 126 rating points.

India remain in second spot with 115 rating points and they’re ahead of England in third, who have 107 rating points. South Africa are fourth on the list with 102 rating points.
