I’ve enjoyed batting at three – Rahul Triapthi on trying to adapt as per match situations

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Rahul Tripathi said that he’s thoroughly enjoying batting at No.3 for his team in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL). After plying his trade for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a couple of seasons, the right-handed Tripathi moved to the Orange Army and has already played quite some knocks of substance.

On Tuesday, May 17, Tripathi won the Player of the Match award after the Sunrisers handed Mumbai Indians (MI) a 3-run defeat at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Tripathi scored 76 runs off 44 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes, helping his team post a massive target of 194 for the Mumbai-based team to track down.

“I’ve enjoyed batting at three. It’s important that if the openers have given a good start, then continuing that. Or whatever the situation demands I’m trying to learn from that,” Tripathi said after the match.

He also had words of praise for MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been a fulcrum of Rohit Sharma and Co. for the last nine editions.

“Bumrah’s a great bowler. Was just looking to react to whatever he’s bowling. Depends on how the wicket is playing, how I can counterattack at that point. If it’s there and I can take it on, I will definitely go for the shot. If it’s not there then I’ll just look to take those singles-doubles,” he stated.

The 31-year-old Tripathi also talked about his goals of representing Team India later in his future. Moreover, he talked about the importance of every ball in a T20 match.
