Pakistan Super League 2020 Qualifier 1 got underway in Karachi on Saturday with Multan Sultans taking on Karachi Kings at the National Stadium in Karachi but before the game, the players paid a touching tribute to the late Dean Jones.

Players and support staff members of both the teams stood in the shape of a ‘D’ on the ground as a mark of respect for Dean Jones, who was popularly known as Professor Deano.

The 59-year-old former Australia cricketer died of a hearth attack in Mumbai on September 24. Jones was in India to fulfil his commitments for the host broadcasters of the Indian Premier League 2020.

The picture of the PSL players’ tribute to Dean Jones is winning hearts on social media and has gone viral within minutes of being posted online.

It was taken just before the match started with Karachi winning the toss and opting to field first against table-toppers Multan.

Dean Jones played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia during an international career which spanned 8 years between 1984 and 1992. He scored 3631 runs in red-ball cricket at an average of 46.55 with 11 hundred and 14 half-centuries.

In one-day internationals he amassed 6068 runs at 44.61 with 7 hundreds and 46 fifties.
