Ready to bat at any position for team – RR’s Buttler after 48-ball 70 against CSK

Written by Rohit Pawar

Rajasthan Royals (RR) looked in deep trouble after they lost their top three in the 126 run-chase against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday but Jos Buttler rose up to the occasion to fire 70 runs off 48 balls and take his team home with a comprehensive 7-wicket wn.

Buttler’s fluent knock is an important one for Rajasthan Royals as the team was sitting at the bottom of the points table but have now climbed up to the 5th spot. The 30-year-old said that he failed to strike in his last match against RCB in which he got out for 24 and therefore, decided to “take a few more options” against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

“Nice to get a win on the board tonight. I tried to come out with some intensity in my batting. I didn’t think I had enough last game, and I decided to take a few more options tonight, and it came off. You have to keep trusting yourself and particularly when there’s no scoreboard pressure, you can play yourself in and let cut loose in the end,” Man-of-the-Match Butter, who smashed an unbeaten 48-ball 70 in the match said.

When asked if he liked his number 5 batting position in the match, Buttler said that he was ready to take any role for his team.

“I’m happy (batting at number 5) to do whatever the team needs to me do. This is my role for now,” Buttler said.
