RCB the team to look out for in IPL 2020: Dav Whatmore

With the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League being held in the UAE, former Australia cricketer and Baroda cricket team head coach Dav Whatmore has predicted that the spinners will have a crucial role to play in the marquee T20 league. However, the experienced coach has backed pacers with ample variations to also shine in the cash-rich event of the BCCI. According to Whatmore, the team with the most balanced attack is none other than Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are yet to win an IPL title.

“Spinners will always have an important part to play. But smart pacers with good variations will also be effective,” said Whatmore, as quoted by News India Express.

“There are a few [teams with a good attack], but RCB has a better balance in this edition of the IPL,” he added.

When the Baroda head coach was asked about the IPL coping without a crowd, Whatmore attested that he believes that the tournament will be as exciting even in front of empty stands. Further on, he revealed that he believes that the absence of crowd won’t affect the performance of RCB skipper Virat, who he expects to shine in IPL 2020.
“I am sure the IPL will be exciting even without the crowd. Players will be playing after a long time so they will give their best,” Whatmore added.

“I doubt it. Virat Kohli is a class player. He plays to win, crowd or no crowd, he will shine.”
