Rohit Sharma Knows when to retire: Dilip Vengsarkar

Rohit Sharma continues to feature in India’s ODI plans and is set to play in the upcoming three-match series against England in July. However, despite his continued selection, his long-term future in the format remains uncertain.

Opinions remain divided on whether Rohit, one of India’s finest batters, should be part of India’s plans for next year’s ODI World Cup. The emergence of a new generation of players, coupled with concerns over his age and fitness, has only added to the debate.

Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar said Rohit has achieved a lot in his career and the decision on how long he wants to continue playing international cricket should rest with him.

The 39-year-old has already retired from Tests and T20Is.

“He (Rohit) has done so well for India and for himself. It’s up to him. He’s been playing international cricket for the last (almost) 20 years and I’m sure he knows the best (on) how to go about things,” Vengsarkar said.

Rohit has scored 11,720 runs in 285 ODIs at an average of 48.83, with 33 centuries and 62 half-centuries.
