Ruwan Galappaththy plot to sale Galle Cricket Club’s presidency!

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Galle Cricket Club (GCC) notorious secretary Ruwan Galappaththy has emerged as a serial financial offender, as now it has revealed that he is desperately trying to parachute a politician as one of the top office bearers of the club, that too just for his personal gain!

Cricket Age had published how Galappaththy neglected the club’s constitutional amendment correspondents and put the club on the brink of a shameful suspension. It has also been published how he unlawfully withdrew club money, stepped down from his position and then reinstated himself within hours by making a mockery of the club’s constitution!

Now it has been accused that Galappaththy has been plotting to bring a small-time politician named Prasad Sampath as president of the  Galle CC!

The accusations are that Galappaththy has borrowed money from the said politician as well and now under his obligation! Thus, he is conspiring this despite the fact that as per the guidelines/directive, core office bearers positions of the cricket clubs and associations must be held only by individuals who, have been active members of the respective club or association for a minimum uninterrupted period of ten years and have demonstrable experience in the club’s system and its administrative structure.

Founded in 1876, Galle CC has produced legendary players like Romesh Kaluwithrana, Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekera!

Now, only for paltry financial gains of 2-3 millions, Galappaththy has put one of the oldest and most prestigious club effectively on sale.
