All-rounder Shivam Dube was one of the top performers for India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He played all nine matches for the world No. 1 T20I team and scored 235 runs in addition to taking five wickets. In the final of the shortest format mega-event, which was played between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8, he scored 26 runs from just 8 balls. Of those 26 runs, he added 24 runs to India’s total in the 20th over itself by hitting three fours and a couple of sixes. After playing a big role in India’s record-extending third T20 World Cup title win, Dube, along with his wife Anjum Khan and a friend, travelled to Mumbai from Ahmedabad via a train.
As per the Indian Express, the Mumbai-based all-rounder decided to travel via train because all flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai were booked. He knew that his presence on the train could create chaos, but he wanted to be with his four-year-old son Ayaan and two-year-old daughter Mehwish, who were at home in Mumbai, as early as possible, so he decided to take the risk.
“There was no flight available, so I decided to take a train from Ahmedabad early in the morning to Mumbai. We could have gone by road, but the train was faster,” Dube said.
“Me, my wife and a friend decided to take a train. 3rd AC tickets were available, so we decided to book them. Everyone we spoke to was worried. What if someone recognised me at the station or inside the train?”
