Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026, Australia to tour Pakistan for three-match series

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Australia will play three T20 Internationals in Lahore before the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday.

The day-night matches will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on January 29, 31, and February 1, prior to both teams departing for the World Cup.

While Australia’s World Cup group games are scheduled in India, Pakistan will play their matches in Sri Lanka.

This marks Australia’s first T20 series tour to Pakistan since April 2022, when they last visited for a Test series followed by a white-ball series.

The Australian team is set to arrive in Lahore on January 28 for the brief series.

Last year, Australia played some of their Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan.

Pakistani selectors will meet with head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Ali Agha later this week to finalize the squad for the Australia series and the World Cup.

The squad will be announced next week after receiving approval from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
