Ayush Badoni gets maiden ODI call-up, replaces injured Washington Sundar

All the hard work’s paid off for young Ayush Badoni, who has been named as the replacement for India all-rounder Washington Sundar for the remainder of India’s ODI series against New Zealand.

The 26-year-old Sundar picked up discomfort in his left lower rib area during the New Zealand innings. After bowling five overs for 27 runs, Sundar walked off the field midway through the innings and did not return to the field.

Despite the injury, he showed grit by coming out to bat at No. 8, remaining unbeaten as India sealed a four-wicket win to go 1-0 up in the three-match series.

The BCCI Medical Team has stated that they will seek expert opinion before determining the next steps in Washington’s recovery.

Badoni, the young all-rounder, is now set to join the squad in Rajkot, the venue for the second ODI.
